At Gateway Science Academy Smiley, the CYSP students ran their Annual Food Drive during the month of November and collected over 1,000 cans of food.
Families donated other non-perishable food and personal care items along with canned goods.
Everything that was collected was donated to the Food Pantry at Epiphany.
The individuals overseeing the food pantry expressed astonishment at the generosity displayed by our families. They conveyed that this particular time of year poses challenges for numerous individuals, making our contribution especially valued.
CYSP students loaded Mr. Conner's truck and unloaded everything in the church building. It took over 30 minutes to get everything down the steps and where it belonged!
The next step will be for GSA Smiley's Life Skills class to spend a few hours helping organize the donations so they are easy to disperse.
GSA Smiley is thankful to everyone who made a donation. The following food drive will be sometime in the spring; be on the lookout for future information.
